John Torode weight loss: Chef lost THREE stone thanks to breakfast


John Torode, 53, is an Australian celebrity chef best known for judging Masterchef. He has previously spoken about his weight loss of three stone.

The chef, who is currently starring on Celebrity Masterchef, once had a much larger frame – but lost the significant amount of weight in 2010.

He told Good Morning Britain at the time that he felt “brilliant” following his weight loss.

“I feel brilliant, actually. It happened nearly 18 months ago now. It’s about three stone and I feel great for it. I cycle everywhere, I eat different.”

One of these changes was learning to start his day in a healthier way by eating breakfast.

“The big secret, which somebody told me is the thing that all people who are very, very overweight have in common, is that they don’t eat breakfast. 

“I now eat breakfast and make the point of sitting down with my children, eating breakfast and starting the day well.”

He spoke about his struggles with his weight during the filming of Masterchef.

Appearing on This Morning in 2014, he said: “I know that, at the end of the series, I’ll be a stone heavier.”

He confessed to feeling “unattractive” when he saw himself on television after putting on weight.

He said: “I saw myself on TV the other day and I’ve got this big fat belly in my chef’s outfit and thought ‘God, you’re unattractive’.”

In the same interview, he revealed an exercise which helps him to stay svelte.

He said he “cycles like hell” to prevent himself putting on too much weight.

John’s fellow Masterchef judge Gregg Wallace has also slimmed down. But what was behind Gregg Wallace’s weight loss?

Posting on Instagram during a holiday with his fourth wife Anne-Marie Wallace, 32 formerly known as Anne-Marie Sterpini, Gregg showed off his body transformation.

He posed topless, facing the camera side-on as he showed off his toned arms and lean six pack.

So how did he lose all the weight? Gregg had posted about his weight lifting regime on his Twitter account.

Posting a video back in October last year, Gregg showed off himself lifting a 130KG barbell. He has also revealed his change in diet plan in previous interviews.

He told The Sun that eating healthier versions of “hearty” meals had helped him lose the weight. “I’m a huge fan of curries, chillies and stews and it is still possible to lose weight and eat hearty meals,” he explained.

“Think about cooking with meats such as chicken and pork — all the things that don’t have much fat.
